We would like to invite you to participate in an upcoming
anthology produced by the fine folks over at www.poseurink.com.

ABOUT

Music touches our lives every day. It is an influential and defining part of all generations and cultures and, because of this, we would like to put together an anthology full of (2-6 page) autobiographical stories about the influence that music has had on your lives as an individuals, as artists, and/or on your creative process.

Earlier this year, we published Side A: The Music Lover's Graphic Novel that included such great artists as: Liz Greenfield, Ben Snakepit, Lars Brown, and Corey Marie Parkhill. It's already being sold in shops nationally and was featured in The Comics Journal, Razorcake, and Alternative Press Magazine. While the reviews were great, we would like to try our hand at making the next installment even better.

You can team up with one other person (a writer with an artist, or vice versa). All entries that are chosen for publication will remain copyright their creators, and said creators will receive a free copy of the final publication to call their own.

GUIDELINES

All stories should be autobigraphical*, 2-6* pages in length, and submitted at 300 DPI, 6.625"x10.25", in Black and White or Greyscale. (If you want your pages to be full-bleed submit your page at 6.875" x 10.5") You can download a (6.875" x 10.5") PSD template showing the neccessary safe-guides here.

STORY IDEAS: Our first music-inspired anthology, Side A, was fantastic but I think there is significantly more ground we can cover about how music itself, and our love for it, has influenced our lives. In addition to autobiographical stories about music, musicians, and how music has changed our lives, I would like to try to delve into the psychology of music influence on us as individuals in our culture.

  • How a song can transport you back to memories of a certain time in your life.
  • How a song coming on the radio at a perfect moment can change your mood.
  • Is our taste in music inherent in our genes, or is it purely the influence of our surroundings?
...Things to that effect. While you're certainly not obligated to write about any of these things (Please, write your own story that fits you best!) they were thoughts that came to my mind while I was discussing this new installment recently.

FONTS:
While we will not accept or reject any story based on the choice of font, it is important that the font you choose matches the feel of your story. In that vein, we decided to give you some guidelines and suggestions regarding font choices to help you get started.

We strongly suggest that you do not use Papyrus or Comic Sans. While Comic Sans is a fairly standard and accepted font, it is boring, often mistreated (squashed or stretched), and often picked on within the comic community. There are countless options you can use in place of Comic Sans that look a little bit more interesting.

FONT RECOMMENDATIONS:
Digital Strip
I Hate Comic Sans
IndieStar BB
Jack Armstrong
laCartoonerie
Webcomic Whore

...and many, many others.

You can find lots of fonts online at sites like DaFont and Blambot.

FORUM

A feature that we didn't have last year, that I thought we could all greatly benefit from this time around, was a forum to discuss our ideas, find collaborators, and get feedback on our stories as we create them. This will ensure that we can get feedback on our work before we've already spent two days inking a page. While involvement in the forum is certainly not mandatory, I think it could be greatly beneficial for anyone with questions, in order to make submissions as high-quality as they can get.
