Recent Orders:

Hey guys,

A huge “THANKS!” to everyone that has placed orders over the last few weeks! The liquidation sale is still going on. We have another 19 boxes of books (about 250 of each) and about 400-500 Winter Bloo record to go; but the sales so far have been a great help!

Without any real news to report – only that it would help us out greatly if you could keep spreading the word about the sale – I thought I would show you guys some feedback we got on recent orders:

Hi Rachel,

I’ve been reading your comics for about a week and I adore them.

Friday, I placed an order for your “Who the Fuck are Poseur Ink Anyway?” shirt. Despite the lateness of my order (probably around 9:30pm on Friday) it arrived here at 1:30pm today on the East coast. This shirt is so cool. AND I got a nifty recycle love button AND a Vanilla Ice trading card.

This is amazing! You are amazing! I felt like a little kid whose mom left a nice note in her lunchbox. Thank you so much, you don’t know how happy I am. I will definitely be buying more stuff from your shop.

Sincerely,
Cecily

and

Rachel,

I received the shirt in the mail – it fits just fine, and thank you for the cards and buttons! Your timing is perfect. I’m glad I got the shirt before you ran out because EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS AMAZING. Thanks again and cheers!

So I’m glad to hear that you guys are digging on the products. That makes it all worth it. but yeah, spread the word, and we’ll do what we can to have new books/merch on it’s way to you soon!

Liquidation Sale

August 18th, 2010 Filed under General 2 Comments

Hey guys,

We’ve had some family emergencies arise and Mike and I have had to sit down and take a look at our priorities. We’ve come to a few different conclusions, but the one thing we agree on is doing what’s best for our family. The first step is making spare room in our apartment and paying off our debts in case additional emergencies arise. We’re making plans to move into a three bedroom in the next few months due to this and we need to have less stuff to move with.

So we’re having a Poseur Ink Liquidation Sale.

liquidation-sale

We’re not closing our doors. We’re still selling other people stuff, we’re still going to be creating new merch… but we need to take some time to be with our family and sort some stuff out. We need to take a break to better our situation.

Nearly everything in the store that was created by Poseur Ink is 50%-70% off. We have about 300 copies left of both Side A and Side B, and those need to go. (They’re only $5 and $11.99 now, respectively.) Once they’re sold, we’re not reprinting. All the older shirts are marked down to $5… this stuff is priced to move, people.

I’m also looking into getting a day job, I have some stuff up on Ebay, I’m taking commissions… all the other normal stuff is going on, but selling what we have of the Poseur Ink stock will be what helps us the most in regards to making room and moving easier.

I’ll be Tweeting, Facebooking, and the like; but if you guys can spread the word, that would be fantastic.

Thanks so much!
Rachel

San Diego was definitely a weird one this year. With attendance numbers at seemingly normal levels, the floor still felt empty. (I even walked around the floor with ease several times!) I don’t know if this had anything to do with the awesome Scott Pilgrim Experience across the street from the con this year, or what; but it weirded me out. (As a die hard fan, I can say the Scott Pilgrim Experience was awesome, though! Custom shirts, flipbooks, garlic bread… what more can a girl ask for?)

But yeah, strange attendance aside, we had a good time this year! We tabled with Ed Brisson of New Reliable Press, and it was great to hang out with him and some of his family at greater lengths. We were also between Tammy Stellanova and Wild Things Creations. (A table down from Real Gone Girl Studios and across from Mollycules.) So we had a fantastic group of artists and friends in our direct vicinity. We also had Katie and Shaggy Shanahan and Robert Iza staying at our apartment, so we were surrounded by sweet artists wherever we went. (Plus, we had the company of Steve Orlando throughout the show. Which is always a delight!)

Many burritos and nice sit-down meals were devoured, many You Tube videos were watched, and many great new friends were made. Not much else to say about that.

One awesome thing that came through the show: we now carry New Reliable Press books in the store! So, if you’re a fan of awesome indie artists and need a new fix: go check out Ed’s published works!

Shark Shirts, Octobriana, and San Diego Comic Con!

Hey guys!

After a long wait, Shark shirts are finally back in stock! We’ve also added a new mini-comic, Octobriana to the store. (The first of four issues – it’s absolutely great!) Next week, we’ll be selling at San Diego Comic Con International! We’ll be at booth M-05 in Small Press (under “Poseur Ink”). We’ll be the big turquoise booth covered in shirts and comics. We’ll be sharing some table space with Ed Brisson of New Reliable Press, so you can pick up some of his work at well!

Can wait to see you there!

TCAF Report:

Last week, we went up to the sunny beaches of Canada for the Toronto Comics Festival. We bunked with the ever-hospitable Victoria and Chris, along with Miriam and Mike. We left at the crack of dawn on Wednesday and arrived on the East coast around dinner time. We had a few hours to wait for the bus, so we took refuge across the street from the airport at the only restaurant within walking distance: McDonalds. We did learn, however, it was “buy one get one free” day for McFlurrys at that location:

At 7:30pm, we walked back to the bus station at the airport to wait for our 7:45pm bus. Almost immediately after we got there, it started raining:

Then it started pouring, with lightening and thunder. Then we waited for the bus for an hour and a half. (By the time it arrived, we were soaked up to our knees!) We arrived in the city late Wednesday night, spent a few hours eating pizza and sharing YouTube videos. We spent half of Thursday sleeping before Miriam and Mike arrived. That night, we went to watch Miriam open for James Sturm at the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre where they both talked about Judaism’s influence on modern comics.

Again, much of Friday was spent sleeping off travel fatigue (but I got most of the way through my book, John Dies at The End, which was awesome)… we went and set up for the show, we went to the official TCAF welcoming party (where we ran into Box Brown and Sarah, Ed Brisson, Robin McConnell, and others), and Leslie arrived.

Saturday was relatively uneventful except for the long list of internet friends that stopped by and kept my spirits up – many of whom I was meeting for the first time! Some of the friends/artist included (in no particular order): Jay Marcy, Dino Caruso, Robin LeBlanc, Madéleine Flores, Katie Shanahan, Jeff Ellis, Adam Cadwell, Marc Ellerby, and Michael Lalond. (I know there were several more of you – so apologies to everyone I’ve forgotten to list!)

Michael Lalond of Orneryboy.

Saturday night was the Queer Comics Mixer and the TCAF Official Saturday Night Party. Mike and I inevitably bailed early to go back to the house and check in with our partner in crime, Megan Rose Gedris, who was supposed to join us at some point that evening.

Megan and I met Fat Pony!

Sunday we met up with Megan, sold a ton of merchandise, caught up with Lucy, Dave, Raina, Becky and Frank, and a few others, completely forgot the meaning of “inside voices”, packed up for the trip home, got lost, found our way back to Victoria’s, and all went out for poutine! We said goodbye to everyone – with some particularly uplifting hugs! – then we caught the late bus back to the Buffalo airport.

A brothel we saw while getting poutine!

A huge thanks to Christopher Butcher and all the volunteers/staff that made the show so wonderful! All the great things we heard about TCAF are true, and we hope to see you guys next year!
